Our History

The history of Railtechniek van Herwijnen B.V. goes back a long way. The original founder, Mr. Leo van Herwijnen started his career in the early 1950s at the Teleflex BV company in Rotterdam, after which in 1983 he founded Railtechniek van Herwijnen B.V. in Tiel, The Netherlands.

Since then, his sons Menno and Jürgen have taken over the company and have expanded its activities extensively to become one of the leading suppliers of overhead conveyors in the world.

  • 1950

    Founder L. van Herwijnen starts his career as an expert sales engineer in overhead conveyor systems at Teleflex B.V. in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.  

  • 1983

    Railtechniek van Herwijnen B.V. was founded in Tiel, the Netherlands, by a group of experts in overhead conveyor systems.

  • 1999

    With the establishment of Railtechnique France in Fontenay Tresigny (FR), the group has gotten a more International character and can cover France and all French-speaking parts of the world.

  • 1999

    Teleflex BV was acquired by Railtechniek van Herwijnen B.V. Teleflex BV has a complete own product range available from monorail systems, chain conveyors, Power & Free conveyors, and remote controls. With Teleflex being part of the group, Railtechniek van Herwijnen can reduce delivery times, be more flexible and improve quality. In 2000 Teleflex BV was moved to a new, modern office and production location in Tiel.

  • 1999

    With UK company Stewart Gill Conveyors LTD joining the group, the delivery of the popular STS 550M chain conveyor and Cleantrack conveyor has been secured for current and future clients. With this acquisition Railtechniek van Herwijnen BV also strengthens its position in the UK market as wel as the Commonwealth of Nations.

  • 2002

    TFX Railtechnik, formerly known as Teleflex GmbH, located in Heiligenhaus (DE) becomes part of the Railtechniek Group. TFX manufactures a light range of chain and Power & Free conveyors. Railtechniek strengthens its position in Germany by having its own manufacturing facilities as well as a sales office in Germany.

  • 2005

    Another conveyor system type is added to the product range with the acquisition of "FTF Fördertechnik". 

  • 2005

    With Dunnewolt Conveyors joining the group, Railtechniek van Herwijnen has added a division with experience over 50 years that is specialized in laundry conveyors systems. Dunnewolt Conveyors has delivered complete systems all over the world.

  • 2005

    Teleflex B.V. will be the sole distributor in the Netherlands of GIS, representing its complete range of industrial hoisting and lifting equipment. GIS A.G. is a leading Swiss manufacturer of electric chain hoists and hoisting solutions.

  • 2006

    An office in Moldova opens, providing engineering and back-office services to whole the Railtechniek van Herwijnen Group of Companies. The Moldova office will be an additional support to the group.

  • 2007

    By adding Amerflex to the group, Railtechniek B.V. has even more conveyor systems and remote control systems in its delivery program.

  • 2011

    The Italian manufacturer of overhead conveyor systems STAM srl, becomes part of the Railtechniek van Herwijnen Group.  STAM srl. enriches the group with many years of expertise in manufacturing conveyors especially for the clothing and warehouse industry.

  • 2011

    With Flowlink srl, Railtechniek adds the inventor of the first Power & Free system to its group. With more than 50 years’ experience within Flowlink of domestic and foreign markets, Railtechniek has a solid base in Italy for further expansion.

  • 2018

    The acquisition of Valdo Manutention brings the number of subsidiaries under the Railtechniek van Herwijnen Group to 12. With Valdo references within the food industry, domestic appliances, and ceramic industries, Railtechniek has been able to strengthen its expertise and decisiveness in the field of conveyor systems.

  • 2019

    The internal transportation branch of the Belgium company Louage & Wisselinck is taken over by Railtechniek van Herwijnen BV. NV Louage & Wisselinck was founded in 1939 and manufactures a broad range of overhead conveyor solutions under the ROB brand. With the take-over, Railtechniek van Herwijnen BV extends its product range and increases the group's engineering and production capacity. The company will continue its activities under the new name Railtechniek België BV.
